I am a very private person. I am not an attention seeker. I do not wish to play games. I do not want to be bothered by people who are seeking both. I do not blame anyone who does not believe me, however please do not waste your time to heckle me. I just want to know what it is so I can start looking for a way to get rid of it. I want any advice on gathering information so that I can better understand everything that has happened. Over the years I have drove my mind into the dirt trying to just understand this. My family does not like to discuss these events and are of no help to me. I can not talk to my wife about this and I am worried. I am an expectant father and I do not want to worry her, or make her think that I am insane. I do not want my child to have insane things happen that they can not discus with other people.
I do not want my child to doubt their sanity. I just want this whatever it is gone. This hopefully will enable some one to give me a name of what it could be.
These are the things that have happened to my mother,my sister and myself.
It has happened in different towns and cities.
It has long periods of dormancy.
It has a smell. Roses at first and then decay.
It sometimes made a shadow on the ground.
We have all heard something audibly say our name. (For what it is worth, this has been the only thing that has ever happened at day time. Hearing it is the only thing that has ever happened inside a home.)
We have all had something beat at the wall and sometimes tap at bedroom windows at our homes.
We are all mostly disturbed before we go to sleep, or when waking.
We have all had dreams to where something bad that looks like someone we know, or something that wants us to think it is a baby asks to be let in the house.
It often refers to the cold.
This is usually when the banging or tapping began, but not always. I have went to sleep hearing it many times growing up. I do not want this for my child.

These are the things that have happened to me, if they have happened to my mother ,or sister they were not mentioned to me.
I think it gets worse when I think about it.
I am not schizophrenic. I have heard whispering. The best way to describe it would be the background noise at a mall. A lot of people and I could not clearly make out words.
I have had doors unlock themselves and open. I never watched , or heard them unlock. I have only seen the door open.
There have been other people present for the banging of walls. I was at a friends house once. We were in the country, so I doubt it was a prankster.
I have had overnight guests and a former girlfriend mention the same nightmares of something terrible wanting in the house.
I find this intriguing as each person has had the same perception of it being something awful.

Now that you are probably thoroughly convinced that I am making this up, or that this is a plea for help from a mentally disturbed person?

If it starts to happen again this would probably make it less scary for my wife and myself.

I don't know if you're still having problems, but you're not imagining it, it happens to lot more people. My Dad is a preacher and he's been to people's houses to pray over their houses. What it is, is evil spirits and he'd rebuke the evil spirit and would command it to leave. If you're still having that problem get a peacher to pray over your home.

Definately "real issues" but I have questions that might be considering a bother, hence your request to not be bothered, I will respecft it.
